The mountain was quiet again today.

This is a shot of the seismograph at the monitoring post in Kaliurang, about 4 kilometers from the crater. The guys up there say they’re sleeping about 2 hours a day in rotating shifts. After a clumsy interview in Bhasa Indonesia, they told me I reminded them of Mr. Bean.

My friend Mike has file a story for the Christian Science Monitor. What do you think? It’s great to see the story he spun from our interviews up there. I also like what he got from Christan about how the local customs protect the mountain and its resources.
